Proverbs Woman

In Proverbs 31, a mother speaks, and gives a rare example of instruction by a woman in the Bible. She urges the ideals of justice. She speaks out for those who cannot, and for the rights of those in need. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

Her worth is far above jewels. She's entrepreneurial -- "She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard." No slacker here, she also fulfills the traditional feminine role as nurturer and caretaker.

I experience and portray her as inscrutable feminine knowledge, mystery, timelessness, in possession of the qualities described, and more. She exists in the deep and between the lines. As do all of us. She reminds us of how we live our worth every day. In our deep connectedness, in caring for a child, by compassion to others, by our involvement in our communities, and by our actions for kindness and justice in our world, we fulfill our destinies and defy easy categorization of who we are.
